Senior Research Engineer – Ceramics

Objective of the Position

General Characteristics :

Utilizes advanced scientific technology to develop and/or improve products, processes, performance and/or reduce costs.
Conducts original research to identify new business areas.
Stays aware of new technology applications and competitive uses of same in work with materials, products and process

Guidance and Authority :

Is totally responsible for projects.  May obtain assistance from other senior research professionals and outside consultants.
Supervision consists of general guidance on setting objectives and specific parameters of projects, as well as administrative guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The incumbent will work closely with the R&D Center in India and the other R&D facilities of the company. S/he will lead the local efforts focusing on development of new products as well as solving manufacturing and processing challenges facing the business. S/he will serve as the technical face to customers, promote products and assist in trouble shooting with customers. Travel may be up to 25%.

This position requires an established hands-on approach to problem solving. S/he will supervise professionals and technicians, to be recruited. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines is required along with attention to detail. The incumbent works to create and maintain a pro-active culture of safety by encouraging, empowering and involving all staff in safety.

Duties and Responsibilities :

PhD in Ceramics/Materials and 3 years of experience or a Masters Degree in Ceramics/Materials and 5 years’ experience is required.
This position requires expertise in ceramic processing and characterization; knowledge in at least one of the four applications
