Senior Research Engineer – Glass

Objective of the Position

• Identification and implementation of new products and the modification of current products to meet customer needs and/or cost reductions.
• Develop lab scale mimic tools or pertinent analytical techniques to quantify the product attributes or underlying phenomena
• Responsible for creating and maintaining a vibrant idea vault for the project and demonstrate aggressive IP protection attitude for new developments

Key Accountabilities

• Project leader to mid- to large-projects; managing project leaders for small-scale projects
• Single-point contact for SGGI marketing for new product development needs
• Lead projects to support business needs. Document results and present to R&D/Business teams.
• Manage team working on upgrade and new capabilities for interiors.
• Provide proactive technical recommendations to issues by building experimental prototypes and testing.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through all stages of the projects, especially stages 3-5.

Skill & Knowledge

• Prefer experience abroad (graduate studies/work experience) or at least MNC in India
• Product development experience (concept stage to industrialization)
• Experimental background in materials research (hands-on)
• Project management and coordination with multiple stakeholders (production, marketing, central R&D)
• Good problem-solving skills
• 1+ patent applications filed/granted – PLUS
• Paint background (coating, processing, application, product performance) – PLUS

Education Qualification

• PhD with 0-4 years R & D experience or Masters with 2-5 years R&D experience
• Strong engineering background and established research experience
• Demonstrated track record of lab-scale and pilot-scale product development
• Ability to innovate and build experimental capabilities for quick validation of ideas
• Experience with coatings on glass (PLUS)
