Research Specialist - Glass
Objective of the Position
- Support to SGGI on routine monthly product/raw material analysis for Mirror/Planilaque/Coater and possibly ACGP in the future.
- Testing of product/raw materials and issuance of monthly reports to SGGI
- Root-cause analyses of failure, R&D inputs on deviation from specifications, and support to crisis needs.
- Owns the overall outcome of routine and new test requirements.
Key Accountabilities
Conducts research and development related to testing and analysis of glass (Optical Measurement, chemical durability studies, data acquisition etc.), thereby building technical depth in the topical area.
The specific aspects related to this job include:
- Work with senior staff and participate in projects in the areas of glass specimen preparation, testing, characterization and related topics.
- Develop experimental approach, execute experiments and collect data
- Builds lab-scale equipment along with senior staff for quick method validation as necessary.
- Will work on improving or developing or characterization methods and will document results through use of laboratory notebooks, technical memos, research reports and SOP’s.
- Will perform analytical equipment maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure continuous operation.
- Will strictly adhere to safety regulations and strive to identify improvements to safety protocols.
Skill & Knowledge
- Skills associated with analytical background with 2-3 years of experience in an analytical lab or R&D lab
- Experience with inorganic chemical analysis and hands on with spectrophotometric characterization are desirable. Data collection, instrument control, and test configurations are highly desirable.
- The incumbent must be well organized, have the ability to communicate with staff, R&D and customers. Knowledge of personal computer systems and general-purpose software are desired.
- Should have good safety performance records.
