SGRI is also actively involved in social welfare activities. One of the examples is the Support we extend to Good Life Centre, Tambaram. Good life Centre is a home for the newly born, abandoned children, special children, orphans and destitute.
In 1996, GOOD LIFE CENTRE (GLC) was started with the motto to create a caring and humane society, with the goal of uplifting the poor, downtrodden, mentally and physically disabled, and destitute children through residential education. Started with 3 handicapped orphaned children, slowly the number of children supported grew to 153 children presently. Hence to accommodate the ever growing number of children’s who need support, GLC commenced construction of a new 150-bed home in Mannivakkam village, Near Oragadam Industrial Area, 6 km from Tambaram in 2011. This new home will provide a home for 100 mentally & physically challenged and 50 aged mothers. However due to lack of funds the construction of the bulding stopped in the year 2013.
SGRI with the support from Saint Gobain Inititives Foundation, Paris is presently supporting to complete the construction of the new home for the Good life Centre, Mannivakkam. With this support Good Life Centre will be able to complete the construction of the building by Feb 2016. We hope the children’s of GLC will be most happy to use the new facilities and can continue to grow in their education, carrier and health.
