Research Engineer - Design & Application Engineering

At Saint-Gobain, we are deeply focused on customer-centric innovation, and developing system-level solutions (including installation, value-addition, renovation and retrofitting) using different Saint-Gobain materials for interiors and exteriors. For this role, we are looking for highly motivated, creative professionals who can identify potential opportunities, and take a concept from the user-research phase to a prototype phase. The candidate will be involved in identifying and developing concepts and ideas for addressing these opportunities, designing and detailing of mechanical systems, qualifying the system developed (certification and testing), building of prototypes and mockups, working with vendors, contractors and fabricators for deployment of system-level solutions in the field. The candidate will be part of a cross-functional project team and will interact closely with business R&D and marketing teams.

• Academic background desired: MDes + Bachelors in Mechanical/Electronic Engineering
• Demonstration of ability to develop/conceive creative solutions
• Strong background in product-design and prototyping
• Hands-on experience with basic fabrication and prototyping
• Knowledge of CAD skills (using SolidWorks) is preferred
• Some background/interest in adjacencies such as manufacturing processes, automation, and mechatronics
• Keen eye for design
• Close interaction with the cross-functional and business teams for radical innovation
• The candidate should also demonstrate project management skills
